About
Us
The
Cruisers of South Florida was formed to bring together those
who love custom and specialty cars. We are an organization
composed of a wide variety of different types of cars and
we welcome members who just want to have fun and belong to
a club run by its members. But in addition, it gives us the
opportunity to give back to our local community in the form
of donations to Charities. Each month, a charity is selected
by the members and we collectively decide how, and to what
extent, we can help. A monetary fund is set aside within the
club treasury for the disbursement of money as voted by the
members. Listed below is a list of the Charities we have helped....
Donations
in 2011
January
2011 $100.00 cash donation to the local chapter of the
Susan G. Komen For The Cause foundation to fight breast cancer.
February
a $100.00 cash donation to the Ft Lauderdale Chapter
of the American Heart Association.
March
The purchase of a brick (and a $100.00) donation to
Noah's Ark For The Dog Park, Pompano Beach, Fl. to support
the park that was built by the city of Pompano Beach and
then left to be maintained by private support and donations.
This facility is used by some of our members and we wish
to insure it perseveres
April
Donation to the Children's Home Society Ft. Lauderdale
Chapter in the amount of $100.00
May Donation of $100 to the food bank at the House
of God Church, West Park, Fl. They are a small local church
striving to take care of the less fortunate within their
congregation and their community.
June
donation of $100 to Vitas Hospice at Florida Medical Center
in memory of member Linda Salemi
July
School supply and back pack donation made to the children
in the care of the Broward County Women in Distress Center
August
Cash donation to Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital Foundation
from the proceeds of the 16th Annual South Florida Tattoo
Expo Car and Truck Show.
September
charitable donation was made to the Ft Lauderdale chapter
of the American Cancer Society for $100 and specified to
be used for their ovarian cancer research program.
October
donation of $100 was made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness
month to the Susan G Komen for the cure projectour october

November
$100 donation is to the Wounder Warrior Project of Florida
in honor of Veteran's Day.

-$100 donation to the American Mothers For Soldiers, a Ft.
Lauderdale non profit organization that seeks to insure
that American soldiers serving in the Middle East who came
through the foster care program without families are remembered
with care packages from "home"
Feb
- $100 donation to Stand Up For Animals, Marathon, Fl, a
not for profit, no kill, animal rescue, shelter and adoption
organization with 2 south Florida locations in Marathon
and Big Pine Key. They are part of a National organization
of the same name
Mar
a cash donation of $100 was made to the Crones and Colitis
Foundation in honor of Linda Salemi with our wishes for
her speedy
recovery.
Apr
a cash donation of $100 was made to "All Saints
Catholic
Mission" for their soup kitchen and pantry. The mission
is located at

May
a cash donation of $100 was made to the Daily Bread
Food Bank in Ft Lauderdale, Fl to help replenish their pantry.
June
- Our June donation was to the Fisher House in Miami. It
is a new project being constructed to provide housing for
the families of veterans being treated at the VA for wounds
and illnesses, many of which are associated with the current
operations in the middle east, etc.
July-
Our donation went to women in distress in Ft Lauderdale.
Our donation amounted to approx $1000.00 (their valuation
on their thank you letter) of assorted supplies and backpacks.
August
- Joe Di Maggio Children's Hospital-donation was from the
proceeds of our annual tattoo expo open car and truck show,
nearly $1300
September
-September charity donation was a $100 donation made to
the Ft Lauderdale Ronald McDonald house.
October
$100 donated to Susan G. Komen for the cure, Ft Lauderdale
chapter
November
In-kind donation of Christmas presents for needy kids
at Oakridge Elementary School, Hollywood
December

October - Organized a Blood Drive at Towers for
the South Florida Blood Banks
November -Conducted a Canned Food Donation Drive for
the homeless in Broward Outreach Program
December - We "Adopted" a needy family
and gave gifts of food certificates and toys for the children
Evie
Schwartz, (Charities@CruisersOfSouthFlorida.com)
maintains a record book which includes a list of the donations,
literature about the charities and organizations as well as
receipts and thank-you letters. This record book is always
available for review at the monthly meetings. Members are
encouraged to suggest organizations they would like to see
supported.
Our
meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 7 PM,Tequila

Meetings are open to all and you do not have to be a member
to attend. Come and see what we are about and if you like
what you see, dues are $25.00 per year for family membership.
